This rare contemporary artwork by Hiroyoshi Asaka takes inspiration from the Golem, a character widely recognized from one of Japan's most iconic video game franchises,

Although the sculpture appears at first glance to be made from lightweight Styrofoam , it is in fact meticulously carved from solid marble.
Through this striking visual contradiction, Asaka challenges the viewer's perception of materiality and reality itself.

By transforming heavy stone into an object that visually mimics fragile industrial foam, the artist gives form to his critical perspective on contemporary societyーsuggesting that what we perceive with our eyes alone cannot always be trusted as truth.

The moment the work is touched or lifted, its unexpected weight creates a powerful sense of surprise, destabilizing the viewer's assumptions and awakening a heightened awareness of perception.

Both visually compelling and conceptually rich, this sculptural work makes a distinctive addition to a contemporary interior as well as a remarkable piece within  a curated art colllection.

Hiroyoshi ASAKA

Born in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture (1977-)
Graduated from Kyoto University of Art and Design, Department of Fine Arts

Asaka, who spent his childhood in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture, a city with a 600-year history as a center for Japanese swords and blades, elevates his own origins into contemporary art.

Starting with his "KABUKIMON" series of Japanese sword artworks made from marble, he now also creates the "KASHOUMON" series, which creates visual illusions by imitating styrofoam with marble.

He is a contemporary artist with many collectors and fans, having held numerous solo and group exhibitions at art fairs and galleries both domestically and internationally, as well as at art galleries in major department stores.
