Kunpei Yoshikawa

Kunpei Yoshikawa is a young, up-and-coming contemporary artist who graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School with a major in Japanese painting, but who continues to challenge himself with innovative expressions that incorporate modern sensibilities.

Based on traditional Japanese painting techniques, he uses a variety of materials to create vibrant works that include imaginary landscapes, abstract landscapes, and even flora and fauna, all captured from his own unique perspective.

Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Painting, Japanese Painting Major (2022)

My recent work focuses on depicting scenes from nature.
One day, after the death of someone, I was searching for a place I could truly return to, and I suddenly found the natural places, such as the forests and rivers in the area where I was born and raised, and the wind and temperature I felt there.
I would like to keep in mind the feeling I had when I realized this, and paint the various landscapes I see during my travels, hoping that they will be a place for someone to return to.
