This small metal artwork by contemporary sculptor Yoshiro Iwaisako features a mouse (hamster) as its motif.

A creature that would ordinary flee is here transformed through the simple act of wearing a jingasa (traditional samurai hat).
With this unfamiliar yet symbolic armor, the small figure gathers the courage to confront any adversary—poised to set out for battle.

Part of Iwaisako's acclaimed series, these works depicts animals―typically cherished for their gentleness―reimagined through the visual language of the samurai. By donning helmets and armor, they embody quiet determination and the will to face their own natural enemies. The series resonates as a metaphor for human resilience, encouraging viewers to take on challenges with  courage in their own way.
