This small metal artwork by contemporary sculptor Yoshiro Iwaisako features a mouse (hamster) as its motif.

A creature that would ordinary flee is transformed through the simple act of wearing a Kabuto (traditional samurai helmet).
With this symbolic armor, the tiny figure finds the courage to face any adversary—ready to confront what lies ahead.

The helmet, uniquely designed with mouse-like ears, appears as if crafted specifically for the creature itself.
Wearing it, the small warrior sets out for battle.

Part of Iwaisako's acclaimed series, these works depicts animals―typically cherished for their gentleness―reimagined through the visual language of the samurai. By donning helmets and armor, they embody quiet determination and the will to face their own natural enemies. The series resonates as a metaphor for human resilience, encouraging viewers to take on challenges with  courage in their own way.

Despite its compact scale, the piece carries a strong presence.
It offers a refined addition to a contemporary interior, as well as a distinctive work within a curated art collection.
