Collection: Akito INOUE

We will introduce works by Akito Inoue, a young contemporary artist who was selected for the 2022 Idemits Art Award and is expected to achieve even greater success in the future.

Mr. Inoue's consistent theme is the "yen."

In Japan, the "Enso diagram," which is based on Buddhist teachings, has long been popular, but the existence of the circle is very mysterious and can be perceived and interpreted in various ways.

What is a "yen"?

The moon, the sun, ripples on water, etc.
Why are people attracted to circles, and what do they find in them?
You may find a special "circle" that only you can see.

[From the artist]
You don't need to think about it to know how precisely circular the circle in front of you is.
No one taught me this, and I don't know when I first understood it.
You may have learned this shortly after you were born, when you saw the moon or the sun.
Or was it already in our genes?
Explore with your sense of touch and trace it back.
In front of me is a circle.
